  1. Place sliced apples in a stovetop pot with water. Add the lemon and cook on medium heat until the apples are cooked down. Watch carefully that the water does not evaporate before the apples are cooked. They should be soft but not mushy. Let cool and place in a glass container with an airtight lid in fridge. Stores for up to 5 days.
